Day 2 - 5th of June
Day 2 - 5th of June
Quickly on Turkey, it was a blur. Wanting to sleep really, really badly, only one memorable thing was the courageous act of Mrs P, who helped a single mother of 4 kids by holding one of the younger boys. The woman was actually very grateful for Mrs P's sycophant act. And so the plane! Oh yes, well, here we were all spread everywhere once again. And between the 9-hour flight, not everyone got much sleep. And so finally, the plane landed!

At last, we arrived! Surprisingly, it didn't take much time to gather everyone at the airport. Passport control was amazingly quick, so we didn't waste time, and we headed straight to Melissa. This beautiful lady helped us with getting into a bus, and to our campus. (One thing, that I found interesting, is that we were riding on the left side of the road instead of the right one).

There, we got introduced to Sam and Burnie. They showed us the whole volunteering area, and gave us keys to our tents. I got to share the tent, named Kruger, with Justyna. We had about 30 minutes to unpack our stuff. Then, we had a small orientation meeting with Sam and Burnie. They introduced us to all rules, and made us sign some papers. Throughout this whole process, we had a chance to see some field animals such us zebras, horses, and ostriches. Then, our guides took us to a small ride around the campus, and they left us next to the cafeteria because it was a dinner time already. I (Paula) don't really remember what we ate, but for sure it was delicious. After we filled up our stomachs with food, we decided to gather and together appreciate the view of South Africa. Unfortunately, it got really cold, and late so we had to go back to our tents. This day was so excited. We got to know many cool people, and appreciate animals that we can't see in our everyday life.
